Dam: 1*M Old Mountain Farm Sweet Leaf
Sire: SG *B Old Mountain Farm Bold Elk
Sweet Elk is a lovely 2 year old buck, well within height, with a pedigree that’s as outstanding as they come. Both his sire and dam have given him length of body, a nice wide muzzle, and some of the very best production and conformation for udder genetics in the country. Sweet Elk’s sire, SG *B Old Mountain Farm Bold Elk was the ADGA 2018 Premier Herd Sire. Sweet Elk is half brother to the 2017 ADGA National Champion and Best Udder doe, CH Old Mountain Farm Merriment, and the 2017 ADGA National Reserve Champion, Old Mountain Farm Shy Elk. He is also closely related on both sides of his pedigree to Old Mountain Farm Brainstorm, a buckling who sold for $10,400 at the 2017 ADGA Spotlight Sale.
Sweet Elk has put a lot of nice kids on the ground for us, and when his semen was collected this past November, his semen motility was rated “Excellent” by Capra Gia Genetics. Sweet Elk is part of the ADGA Sire Development Program, so needs to be siring kids in other herds now. We do not have any current photos of him, and won’t be taking any while he’s post rut/winter gross. If he is not sold by the time he can be clipped bathed, and photographed professionally, his price will go up – the current price reflects our desire not to have to do that come spring.
FeatherNScale “Gallant Quinn”
Gallant’s sire, SG *B Old Mountain Farm Bold Elk was the ADGA 2018 Premier Herd Sire. Gallant is half brother to the 2017 ADGA National Champion and Best Udder doe, CH Old Mountain Farm Merriment, and the 2017 ADGA National Reserve Champion, Old Mountain Farm Shy Elk. He is also closely related to Old Mountain Farm Brainstorm, a buckling who sold for $10,400 at the 2017 ADGA Spotlight Sale.
His dam is second fresher this year, and promising to be one of our most productive does, with large, soft teats with large orifices, and a collapsible udder that is a joy to milk out. She should help support a lot of outstanding dairy character in this buckling. Gallant is already showing great body depth, a lovely brisket, and the beautiful head and muzzle his sire is known for.
FeatherNScale “Sweet Jane”
This breeding combines some our very best genetics, and this doeling has a ton of powerhouse potential. She is an Old Mountain Farm Bold Elk granddaughter, and all of the udders behind this girl are exceptional. He dam, Jane, has an incredibly capacious second freshening udder.
Chamoisee/Cou Clair combo, polled
Little “Anya” is a beautiful, elegant little polled doe with a lot of promise. Her sweet personality comes down from her sire and dam, as does her dairy potential.
SS: NC PromisedLand RC Odyssey
Sire: Sugar Moon O Ferrero
SD: Sugar Moon Nut-Ella
DS: NC PromisedLand RC Odyssey
Dam: Sugar Moon O Winter Spring
DD: NC PromisedLand RB Cowabunga
“Swissy” is being offered for sale through no fault of her own. As we continue to trim our herd, and intensify our focus on just a few dam lines, she is one of a few tough decisions we’ll be making this season.
This girl kidded early and he buckling did not survive, so we didn’t get to see the full potential of her uddder this season, but from milking her for a brief period, we do know she has fantastic teats that express well, and a well attached udder overall with great division of the halves.
All wethers are $100 each, or $150 as a pair
